Infrastructure Defines the Superstructure.
ID Set Lab first gathers the essential data required for laboratory design and determines the infrastructure needs based on the type of laboratory.
Understanding the purpose of the laboratory space, analysing the existing facility, and identifying the demands, requests, and experiences of laboratory staff form the foundation of a proper infrastructure setup. Special attention is given to the types of analyses to be conducted, as well as the use of chemicals and hazardous materials within the laboratory.
For a Robust Infrastructure:
● The laboratory's experimental workflow is determined,
● The placement of complex, high-tech laboratory equipment within the space is identified,
● Room types and specific areas are defined,
● Laboratory bench types and lengths are established,
● Fume hood and exhaust hood requirements, based on chemical usage, are determined and their placement is planned,
● Chemical storage areas within the laboratory are designated,
● Microbiology testing areas, clean rooms, and biological safety cabinet needs are identified,
● Support areas for the laboratory, such as archives, IT rooms, and HVAC technical rooms, are determined.
